2008 Annual General Meeting

April 20, 2008

One of SVTOA-Toronto’s largest events is our Annual General Meeting (AGM). The AGM keeps our members briefed on chapter business matters, while sharing our passion for Fast Fords.

This year, our members were again treated to a taste of early summer. With sunny skies and temperatures in the low 20's, many of our members took this opportunity to take out their SVTs and fast Fords from their garages and head over to Dixie Ford, our Chapter Dealer Sponsor.

The Opening Reception allowed everyone to catch up with old friends and make new fast friends. Although the main event was inside the warm showroom, many took a chance to admire each others’ vehicles parked outside.

It was then time for everyone to get settled into their chairs or jostle for the best standing positing. Luckily, a nice breeze cooled down the showroom just as the meeting commenced. With the showroom floor filled to capacity and the multimedia presentation system set up by our Webmaster and General Computing Guy, Richard Lee, our Assistant Chapter Director, Laura Querin, called the AGM to order. In usual AGM fashion, the meeting started off with an introduction to this year's Board of Directors, housekeeping/business items, and update of upcoming events. This year, there were two main events to announce: The SVT 15th Anniversary Reunion at the Carlisle All-Ford Nationals, and our Redline Rendezvous On Track event scheduled for July 11th to 13th at the Mosport Driver Development Track .

This year's AGM focused on Grassroots Motorsport/Performance Driving Panel. Our panel of race drivers, track mashalls and instructors gave an informative look at what is out there (considering our affiliation with CASC-ON).

Time was set aside to recognize and thank the many chapter members who volunteer their time and efforts for our club during the year. We are only as successful as our volunteers. SVTOA-Toronto would not be here without them.

To conclude the meeting, we held our Chinese raffle. Members walked away with Havoline oil, hats, collectible memorabilia, and a truckload of microfibre towels. Special congratulaions go out to Craig Read for winning the beautifully framed Mustang poster up for auction, and congratulations go to our Chapter Director, Iain Reid, for picking up the 2008 Ford Focus brochure signed by the one and only Chip Foose.

The Board Members of SVTOA-Toronto would like to thank everyone who came out to the AGM. Thanks also go to Dixie Ford for clearing their showroom for our AGM. Special thanks go to all the volunteers who helped setting up and cleaning up for the AGM. We look forward in cruising into 2008 with all your support. See you at our next chapter event.

For anyone who missed the AGM, the minutes have now been posted.
