2010 Winter Party - How to Have a Blizzard of Fun With No Snow At All

February 6, 2010

This year's winter festivities for SVTOA-Toronto had a slightly different feel than in years past (and not just because of the decided lack of snow on the ground).

Thanks to the generosity of one of our chapter members, Minseh, our club held its annual celebration at the Fuzion Banquet Hall located in Mississauga. The hall was very welcoming; from the warm and friendly staff to the excellent food and surroundings a grand time was had by all.

But what's that you say?  Where does the fun come in?  Thanks to the efforts of the Chapter Directors, the fun came courtesy of a game whose aim was to both entertain and interact with the party goers. After numbers were distributed to all the attendees, each attendee could then proceed to the stage to take a mystery gift, or could "steal" a gift that had been previously chosen by another person and unwrapped for all to see.

Initially, there was very little swapping of revealed gifts, perhaps a sign of that inherent Canadian politeness, but as the prizes were revealed those choosing later began to assert claim to earlier prizes, including things like movie passes, a Shelby Cobra Concept die-cast, and an SVTOA-Toronto club jacket (the most "stolen" items of the night)

After all was said and done, guests were well fed, prizes revealed and a grand time was had by all.

Once again on behalf of the SVTOA-Toronto chapter and all its members, a big thank you to Minseh and his staff at the Fuzion Banquet Hall for being such accommodating hosts and a thank you to all the party attendees.

SVTOA-Toronto also donated $150.00 to the Friends of the Orphans Canada Charity.  These funds were specifically set aside to assist orphans in Haiti. Our very own Margaret Blair is involved with this organization and spoke very highly of the work they are doing.  If you are interested in donating or want more information on this organization, go to http://www.fotocan.org
